Privacy
How do I change my privacy settings?
Go to your profile page. (Log in using the orange box near the top of the page, or click on "My Profile" if you're already logged in.) Next to the welcome message, click on "Edit Profile." (You can also click on the "Profile" tab.) Scroll down the page to "My persona content is," and select from "Private," "Shared with Friends," or "Public."
"Public" means all the content in your profile, including your avatar, photographs, blog entries and messages left by others, are available for anyone to view, including people who are not members of MyOCHigh.com.
"Shared with friends" means your friends, but not the general public, can see your profile information.
"Private" means information in your profile, except for your avatar, is hidden from the public. Other people – including your friends – will not be able to see your blog entries, your personal photos, or messages that other people have left for you. If you want your friends to see your blog posts, choose "Shared with friends."
Please note though any videos and songs/audio clips you've uploaded will still be accessible to the public. The photos you uploaded in public galleries, your comments on other people's blogs, and your discussion board postings will also be accessible to the public. Reporting Abuse
Someone on MyOCHigh is bugging/harrassing/threatening me - what can I do about it?
If you feel you and/or someone you know are in danger, contact law enforcement immediately. Do not respond to messages from the individual. Keep copies of messages or correspondences from the individual. Remove the individual from your Friend List and delete any comments they have left on your profile page. If they created a nasty profile about you or someone you know, e-mail contact@myochigh.com with a link to the profile.
Someone is pretending to be me - what do I do?
In order to verify your identity, please send us a "salute." Take a photo of yourself holding up a handwritten sign with the word "MyOCHigh.com" and your user ID (your user ID appears immediately after "UserID=" in the web address/URL when viewing your profile). E-mail the photo to contact@myochigh.com. We can then remove the profile that uses your identity without your permission. Please be sure to include the web address/URL to the profile in question when you send your salute. If the profile is an extremely obvious attempt to be cruel/false, you may not need to send a salute.
How do we remove an imposter profile for a teacher/faculty member?
Please email the web address of the profile to contact@myochigh.com. Leave your name, e-mail address and brief details about your complaint.
Where do I report underage users?
Users must be at least 13 years of age to join MyOCHigh. Your profile may be de-activated and your membership may be terminated without warning, if we believe that you are under 13 of age. If you believe you have seen a user under 13 years of age on MyOCHigh, please contact us at contact@myochigh.com with the URL or user ID number and we will remove it.
Where do I report spammers?
Go to the Spammer's profile, and click on the "Report Abuse" link. You can also e-mail us at contact@myochigh.com with the URL to the profile of a spammer, and details of how you were spammed.
Where do I report abuse and inappropriate content?
If you think someone is violating our Terms of Use, click on the "Report Abuse" button on comments that person has made. You can also reach us at contact@myochigh.com.
Your account
What's the difference between a username and a screen name?
A username is what you use to log into MyOCHigh.com with. There should not be spaces within the username.
A screen name is what other people will see when they click on your profile. Your username and your screen name do not have to be the same when you register.You can change your screen name (See next question, "How do I change my screen name?") after registration, but not your username.
How do I change my screen name?
Go to your profile page. (Log in using the orange box near the top of the page, or click on "My Profile" if you're already logged in.) Click on the "Profile" tab. Just under "My Profile," click on "Change your email address, password or other site registration options here." Submit your new screen name. Please note that your new screen name won't show up until you log out and log in again to MyOCHigh.com.
I forgot my password.
Go to http://www.myochigh.com/users/forgotpassword/ and enter the e-mail address you used to sign up with. Your password will be sent to you.

How do I change my password?

How do I change the e-mail address on my profile?
Go to your profile page. (Log in using the orange box near the top of the page, or click on "My Profile" if you're already logged in.) Click on the "Profile" tab. Just under "My Profile," click on "Change your email address, password or other site registration options here." Submit your new e-mail address.
How do I create a profile for my school club or group?
Click on "Join Now" in the orange box in the upper right area of the site. (If you've already logged onto MyOCHigh with your personal profile, log out first before creating a new profile.) On the User Registration page, select "Click here to register a Club or Group," then submit an e-mail address.
We suggest your school club or group designates one person to be in charge of the account. If multiple people from the same club create profiles, there will be many clubs and mucho confusion!
After your school club/group profile is created, you'll want to add club members as friends. Go to your school's page (click on "Schools" on the green top navigation bar, then find your school). Scroll down to the bottom to classmates and see all the people who have registered under this high school. Click on someone's name, and when you're on his/her page, click on the "Add me as a friend" yellow box.
How do I delete my account?
Please e-mail us at contact@myochigh.com and let us know you want your account de-activated. Send us your user name, and contact us using the e-mail address you signed up with so that we know it's you. After your profile is de-activated, other people will no longer be able to see your blog, comments, photos, videos, and anything else you've added, although you will still be able to log in.
FYI, you can manually delete your blog entries and photo galleries, but you can't de-activate your account without contacting us.
There's a message on my profile that says: "Your profile information contains inappropriate content and has been hidden by our staff ..." What does that mean?
Someone has complained the information in your profile is offensive or inappropriate. Our staff reviewed the complaint and agree your material is not appropriate.
You can re-instate your profile by changing the description in your profile and/or the photo. Don't forget to hit save. MyOCHigh editors will be able to see that you have re-saved your profile, and if the new information is considered acceptable, we will re-instate your profile within 24 hours.
Can I customize my page by changing the background color or image?
You can change the look of your page by selecting one of our templates – default (white and blue), blue and gold, black and gold, or maroon and gold. Go to your profile page, click on the Profile tab, then scroll down to "Page Style" and pick an option from the drop down menu.
Right now on MyOCHigh.com, you can't pick a different background color or add a background image. We hope to add more customization options in the future..
Friends and Interest Groups
How do I add a friend?
You find friends by finding the schools they belong to.
For example, if you're searching for a friend from Anaheim High School, go to Anaheim High's school page. (Click on "Schools" on the green top navigation bar.) Scroll down to the bottom to "Classmates" to see all the people who have registered with Anaheim High as their school. Click on someone's name, and when you're on his/her page, click on the yellow box that says "Add me as a friend."
You can also add friends by browsing through the interests. Click on "Connect" on the green top navigation bar. Select a topic you're interested in, then look at the bottom of the page to see people who share the same interest. Click on someone's name, then at that person's page, click on the yellow box that says "Add me as a friend."
MyOCHigh.com does not currently have a search function for friends. Sorry.
How do I join an Interest Group?
The "Connect" section of our Web site lists a bunch of Interest Groups, each with a list of people who are that interest. To add or remove yourself from one, go to your Profile page by clicking on "My Profile" in the yellow box in the upper right area of the site. In the row that says "Home Messages Comments Photos Blog Profile," click on "Profile," then "Change your email address, password or other site registration options here." Near the bottom of the page, under interests, select or remove topics.
Blogging
How do I start a blog?
First, sign up with MyOCHigh. Go to your profile page. (If you're not there already, click on the orange box in the top right area called "MyOCHigh Quick Links.") Click on the "Blog" tab, then click on "Write New Post" to begin blogging. It's that easy. To create a title, click on "Blog Settings." You can also enter a tagline, photo, blog roll, and change your display preferences here. Remember to hit Save.
How do I change my blog's title?
Go to your profile page. Click on the "Blog" tab, then click on "Blog Settings." You can create a title here, and enter a photo, tagline, and change othe preferences. Remember to hit Save.
How do I add a link in my blog entry?
Use your mouse to highlight the text you want to add a link to. Click on the icon at the bottom that looks like a chain link, and paste your URL in the popup field. To remove a link, click on the text, then click on the icon at the bottom that looks like a broken chain link.
To add or remove a link to a photo, click on the photo first, then click on the respective chain/broken chain icon.
How do I add photos to my blog entry?
Click on "Write New Post" to start a new blog entry and start typing into the Body. Click on the tree icon at the bottom to add a photo – select "Browse" to find the photo on your computer, then hit Save.
If you want to add a link to a photo that has been added to your blog entry, then click on the icon that looks like a chain, and paste your URL. To remove the link, select the photo again, and click on the icon that looks like a broken chain.
How do I add a video to my blog entry?
Click on "Write New Post" to begin writing. Click on the film strip icon at the bottom, and paste your embed code from YouTube, Google Video, and other services. (On YouTube, the Embed code is available on the right side of the page, just below "About This Video." Copy and paste the code that begins with <object width="425" ... etc.)
Another way to include video is to post a video on MyOCHigh's video page at http://www.myochigh.com/videos/uploadVideo After your video has been approved, you can link to the video URL on your blog entry.
Discussion Boards/Forums
I saved my board post but nothing's showing up.
It's possible your entry has been saved but your font was too light for the entry to be visible. Click on "Edit/rename discussion." Use your mouse to select all the text under "Your Post," then click on the triangle next to the "A" at the bottom to change your font color. Remember to Save.
Photos
Can a non-member post photos to MyOCHigh?
No. Only members can upload videos. Membership is free and open to high school students currently enrolled in Orange County schools.
How do I delete a photo?
To delete a photo posted in your private gallery, go to your Profile page, click on Photos, then select the gallery under "My Galleries."
If you want to delete a photo you posted in a public gallery (i.e. a school gallery or interest group gallery), send an e-mail to contact@myochigh.com with a link to that photo and your user name. Please contact us using the e-mail address you used to sign up for your account so that we can verify you posted the photo. All the galleries on myochigh.com/galleries are public galleries.

Videos
How do I upload a video?
First, log into MyOCHigh.com. Select "Videos" from the top navigation bar, then "Upload Your Videos" from the left navigation bar. Select "Upload video." We accept wmv and flv files of up to 100 MB, but for a faster upload time, try to limit your videos to under 20 MB. Be sure to include a title. If you select a school, that video will be linked to the school's profile, too.
You can also add videos you've already uploaded on YouTube. On the Upload video page, select "Upload/add YouTube video." Go to the YouTube page where the video is, copy the embed code at the top right side of the page, and in MyOCHigh, paste it in the field called "Paste YouTube Embed Code."
Your video won't be added to MyOCHigh's main video index until an editor here has approved it. Things that may cause your video to be rejected include using copyrighted material (e.g. last night's "The Office") and footage showing criminal activity.
Can a non-member of MyOCHigh upload videos?

How do I edit a video that I posted?
Send us a note to let us know you want to remove your old video. (See above question, "How do I delete a video that I posted?) MyOCHigh.com doesn't have a video editing tool now, so you'll have to use a program like Windows Movie Maker or iMovie to edit your video before you post a new video on MyOCHigh.com.
Music and audio clips
How do I upload a song/audio clip?
Log into MyOCHigh.com. Click on Music at the top navigation bar, then "Upload Your Music" on the left navigation bar. We accept mp3 files of up to 10 MB. Be sure to enter a title and select a category.
Please don't upload a copyrighted song or recording. This space is for you to share your original songs and recordings.
Your audio clip will most likely appear automatically on the main music index (myochigh.com/music), but in some cases, your clip might be reviewed by MyOCHigh editors before it shows up on the index.
How do I delete a song/audio clip?
If you want to delete a song/audio clip you uploaded, send an e-mail to contact@myochigh.com with a link to that audio clip and your user name. Please contact us using the e-mail address you used to sign up for your account so that we can verify you're the owner of the audio clip.

Why isn't the song/audio clip I uploaded showing up on MyOCHigh.com?
The editors at MyOCHigh periodically remove copyrighted material from the site. In other words, please don't upload songs by other people on our site. MyOCHigh's music section is for you to share your original music and audio clips.
If you're trying to upload an original clip, and it persistently fails to show up on the site, please e-mail the clip to contact@myochigh.com and briefly explain your previous uploading problems.
Other
I'm concerned my friend might hurt himself/herself. What should I do?
If you know someone is in immediate danger of committing suicide, call 911 immediately. If your friend is not in immediate danger of committing suicide, encourage him/her to call the National Hopeline Network at 1-800-SUICIDE (784-2433) where he/she can talk to someone anytime of the day to talk.
