Fifteen local girls will take the Community Center stage Saturday to compete in the 60th annual Miss La Habra pageant.
This year the girls will shake, rattle and roll in true '50s fashion to fit this year's theme, "Rock Around the Clock". The contestants will perform a group dance, answer an on-stage question and model evening dresses and sports wear.
The winner will become the liaison for the La Habra Host Lion's Club and will volunteer for various city events and also receive the honor of riding in a float in Corn Festival Parade this summer.
"We're looking for a well-rounded young lady that is interested in giving back to the community," pageant director Alyce Lubes said. "We're looking for someone of substance."
The queen will get a $1,000 scholarship and four princesses will receive $500 each.
The pageant will be at 6 p.m. at the Community Center, 101 W. La Habra Blvd.
